1 Kitchen at 1 Hotel West Hollywood
Written by Dawn Wilson
Whether staying at the 1 Hotel West Hollywood or not, you can still visit 1 Kitchen inside the hotel for breakfast or lunch from 7 AM – 4 PM. It is ideal for business meetings or for getting away from it all and enjoying a nice meal in a relaxing environment. The restaurant is conveniently located on Sunset Strip inside the 1 Hotel West Hollywood, just 15 miles from the airport.
Chef Ginger Pierce serves local, sustainable dishes with ingredients from the hotel’s 2,000-square-foot organic garden. She is passionate about ingredient-driven food, locally sourced, seasonal produce, and farms. Some of the California farms they use that are worth noting are Apricot Lane Farms, JF Organic Farms, Pudwill Berry Farms, and McGrath Family Farms, to name a few. In addition, the restaurant’s seafood, dairy, and poultry partners produce the best products with the least environmental footprint possible. These farms include Redwood Hill Farm, Pasturebird, and Peads & Barnetts. As a result, the farm-to-table Southern California menu items provide customers with the freshest food possible. Zero-waste items can also be found on the menu, which further aids in the hotel’s commitment to sustainability. Definitely not to be overlooked is the delicious cold-pressed juices, which are also the base for many of the creative cocktails served at the hotel.
The first thing you’ll likely notice is how laid-back and relaxing the restaurant is. Seating is available in the bright, open-air dining room and outdoors. The food is prepared with simple ingredients but in a way that makes each dish taste amazing. Many of the spices are perfectly combined with other ingredients to bring out the full flavor of the spices. There may be menu items that you never thought would taste good, but due to the talent and creativity of Chef Pierce and her team, they tend to surprise the most skeptical diner, such as myself. A burger is always a safe bet, but when dining at 1 Kitchen, I was encouraged to try the House Made Chickpea Burger, made with carrots, sprouts, and spicy Tahini. Much to my surprise, I loved it! Don’t worry; you can still order a Grass Fed Beef Burger, Roasted Cauliflower, Grilled Bass, Pork Carnitas Tacos, and a Superfood Salad, to name a few of the great lunch items offered. Many of their smoothies and juices also pack a powerful punch, such as the Game Changer, which is suitable for stamina and brain function and includes bananas, peanuts, dates, spinach, cinnamon, cashews, and probiotics. There is also one called Pitaya Protein; it produces a healthy glow and is a metabolism booster. It includes almonds, spinach, strawberries, bananas, mulberries, and probiotics. These drinks aren’t only delicious, but they also offer health benefits!
The breakfast and lunch menu items are succulent, savory, and sustainable, which makes for a perfect meal.
