Get Your Vacation Property Ready For Visitors Again
Over the last year, the COVID-19 pandemic has had an effect on people's lives and plans all over the world. It has had a notably negative impact on the tourism and hospitality industries, as many hotels and vacation properties have been denied permission to open, or travel restrictions have prevented people from travelling and go on
This means that many vacation property owners have been sitting around sitting on their hands for more than a year and will continue to do so for the near future as the pandemic continues to wreak havoc across the world. The owners may be anxious about whether or not their enterprise will survive, and if it does, how they will incentivise visitors to return when it is safe to do so.
Here, we look at some of the things that as a vacation property owner, you can be doing to make sure that when the world starts opening up, so can you.
Give it a new lease of life
Use this time to redecorate your holiday property and consider giving it a new lease on life if you have the financial resources to do so. This can be as large or small as you want it to be: a fresh coat of paint in the property, or tearing out the kitchen and bathroom and replacing them with new ones. It may be as easy as putting up new curtains and blinds, replacing the artwork or removing the worn-out carpet. You should also clean it thoroughly, particularly in light of the current situation. Sanitize everything, hire a carpet cleaner to clean the floors, and go over everything thoroughly when you have the opportunity.
Make sure it is up to code and there are no repairs that need doing
Although your property should always be fire-safe and in good shape for visitors and short-term renters, we all know how easy it is to overlook certain general maintenance problems when you have customer after customer checked in. It is possible that you have not had the gutters cleaned in a while, or that you have not gotten around to that pipe re-lining. Use this time to bring in the professionals and complete all of the tasks necessary to ensure the safety and comfort of your visitors.
Build your own website
Third-party booking websites can help you get reservations, but they can also be restrictive. They take a cut of your money, after all. Create a website and take advantage of the booking flexibility it provides. You have complete control over your booking, are not limited in the number of photos you can use and are not directly competing with other property owners. There are plenty of free website builders available online - maybe you can teach yourself a new skill while you are at it!
The pandemic has been tough for all business owners, but particularly for those involved in the travel and tourism industry. Use the time while travel is still restricted to get your vacation property ready and raring to go.
