In her early twenties, Addison, a former Division 1 athlete, faced a challenge when she could no longer run due to Compartment Syndrome. She was left with the option to quit running or undergo invasive surgeries on both legs. Instead, she defied the diagnosis for surgery and ended up eliminating gluten from her diet and adopting a healthier lifestyle.
With a lifestyle change of being healthier - with cooking at the forefront - Addison took to baking and finding “better-for-you” options, thus Sweet Addison’s was born. Addison is shaping the world of desserts into one where desserts become a celebration of both flavor and responsibility towards the planet. With this vision in mind, she strives towards creating a brighter, tastier, and more sustainable future for all!
Tell us about your background before Sweet Addison’s.
Before launching Sweet Addison’s, I was working in finance but felt unfulfilled. After graduating from college as a Division 1 soccer player, I began distance running in the hopes of running a full marathon. After several miles, my legs would become tingly and eventually go numb. Doctors told me I was too sick to run and needed to either get surgery, or stop running altogether. My aunt is a veteran marathoner and encouraged me to become gluten free. I was so desperate to run that I quit gluten cold turkey.
After just 3 days, I was able to run normally again. In nine months, not only did I cross the finish line of my first marathon, I documented my process of becoming gluten free on Instagram, which really resonated with people. I built up a following on social media and my audience started asking me if I would ship them my baked goods. Early this year, after months of recipe testing, I launched Sweet Addison’s, a brand of better-for-you, better tasting desserts made from ingredients you know and love.
How did you get your start into the baking industry?
I grew up baking with my mom and grandmother and have such fond memories in the kitchen. My mom and I used to bake the Toll House chocolate chip cookie recipe every Sunday afternoon together.
In 2022, I created a series on Instagram called the “25 Days of Christmas Cookies,” which involved me sharing a different cookie recipe every day in December, leading up to Christmas. Sharing my gluten free recipes on social media allowed me to build an audience that began asking for my desserts. During that time, I started getting questions about where my cookies were sold. This was the catalyst in creating Sweet Addison’s.
Can you share more about the Sweet Addison’s brand and the inspiration behind it?
I am on a mission to revolutionize the dessert industry by creating classic recipes with better-for-you ingredients. What drives me every day is my passion for creating treats that not only taste amazing, but also nourish the body. As someone who has struggled with dietary restrictions myself, I understand the frustration of not being able to enjoy desserts without worrying about the ingredients.

Are there any innovative techniques you think have worked well for you?
Each ingredient is carefully hand selected to provide flavor, texture, and health benefits. Creating a cookie without white flour, white sugar, brown sugar, and butter has been challenging and exciting. Our ingredients are innovative – we are ready to change the dessert world one bite at a time!
I know it’s a tough question, but what is your favorite cookie that you make (or that you WILL make?) and Why?
I would never launch a cookie flavor I wasn’t obsessed with, but my heart lies with the original chocolate chip cookie. It took me 25 recipe variations to perfect it. This first flavor really tested my baking abilities (and patience), but I am so in love with the end result. They are soft baked, thick, gooey, and ultra flavorful. I climb into bed and eat 2 every single night!
What’s next for Sweet Addison’s? Any new flavor launches?
Sweet Addison’s recently launched its latest addition to its gluten-free lineup: the limited-edition Snickerdoodle Cookie! This nostalgic favorite is perfectly coated in an organic cinnamon-sugar blend, making it a must-have for the holiday season. Joining other favorites like the Brookies, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies, Sweet Addison’s continues to redefine indulgence with all-natural, better-for-you desserts.
