Tips For Transporting Your Luxury Car

If you are relocating and you want to bring your precious luxury car (or cars) with you then the good news is there are several options at your disposal. This is the case whether you are looking to transport your supercharged supercar or your classic car that has yet to be started and may not even move. So if you have a high-end luxury vehicle that you don’t want to add all the miles to but want to see it arrive safely in your new residence here are some of the things you might want to consider when transporting your luxury car to its new home.

Pick your company wisely

Firstly, if you are using a transportation company it is imperative that you do your due diligence. Spend time researching your options, including reputable companies such as road runner car shipping, and consider what they have to offer in terms of services, assurances, and insurance coverage, especially in case the worst happens.

When it comes to transportation you will also want to consider the method by which your car is going to be transported. There are several different options available and you will need to consider the most viable for your means and requirements.

Michael Snow of Trailersplus advises that if you are transporting a show or antique car then you may want to consider an enclosed trailer. Although this is the more expensive option it will protect your car from being exposed to the elements and prevent it from being damaged in transit. Further closed single level trailers will prevent your car from being subject to oil leaks or other damage being incurred from the upper decks.

Insure your vehicle

While your transport company should carry insurance chances are this is the basic level of cover required to protect your vehicle. For example, check that the transporter’s insurance covers stereos, GPS, and other electronics. If not consider removing them or for added peace of mind consider purchasing additional insurance coverage or a supplemental plan for the transportation.

Record its condition

Before sending your lavish motor off on its travels wash your car and then be sure that you carry out a full check of its current condition. Note any blemishes (if any), and take photos and videos of your car’s current state to avoid any problems down the line. Hopefully, you won’t need your inventory if you choose the right transport company but even in the safest of hands accidents do happen. So, err on the side of caution.

Handover advice

When handing your car over to your chosen transport provider follow some of these simple steps;

  • Remove personal belongings as they will not be ensured - be sure to check the glove compartment and all other storage spaces.

  • Perform some general maintenance, and check the battery, tire pressure, and fluid levels. Your car will need to be moveable after all.

  • Disable the alarm and immobilizer.

  • Inform your transport provider of any quirks or nuisances that your luxury car has.
