Nestled in the picturesque mountains of Whistler, Canada, Wedge Mountain Lodge & Spa is a serene retreat that accommodates up to 26 guests. Just 12 minutes from the ski lifts and vibrant Whistler Village, and 3 minutes from the heliport, it offers effortless exploration with chauffeur-driven vehicles.
My stay exceeded all expectations, immersing me in nature without isolation. Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles and refreshing drinks, enhancing the tranquil atmosphere.
The lodge’s grand entrance, soaring 35 feet high and adorned with custom cascading pendant lights, was awe-inspiring. A plush velvet seating area added elegance, creating a welcoming ambiance. The lodge honors its location in the unceded territory of the Squamish and Lil’wat Nations with a memorable cultural welcome that includes traditional performances.
Wedge Mountain Lodge & Spa features ten beautifully designed bedrooms, each with luxurious en-suite bathrooms, plush robes, and elegant furnishings, ensuring a cozy and comfortable stay for all guests.
The Great Room
The grand entrance and staircase lead to The Great Room, which quickly became my favorite gathering spot in the lodge. This central hub is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide breathtaking views of the private pools, garden, and surrounding mountains. The Great Room features a bar, guest kitchen, and dining area, complemented by cozy fireside sofas offering ample seating for all. The large dining table can be arranged for both casual dinners and formal events, making it the ideal space for sharing meals and creating unforgettable memories with friends, family, or colleagues.
Customized Menu Experience
One of the standout features of our stay was the Customized Menu Experience curated by Executive Chef Bill. His commitment to using the freshest, locally sourced, and organic ingredients made each meal a delightful culinary journey. Each morning, I eagerly anticipated a hearty breakfast that provided the perfect boost for my day. The attentive staff offered a range of options, from buffet-style to plated lunches tailored to our preferences. On days when we ventured out to explore, Bill prepared delicious meals to-go, which added a convenient touch to our adventures.
Dinner at the Lodge was a highlight of my experience. Chef Bill crafted personalized menus that catered perfectly to our tastes. We savored a variety of dishes, from tender braised short ribs to flavorful tacos and refreshing poke bowls, each one thoughtfully prepared with care and creativity.
To complement the exquisite meals, we were treated to a curated selection of beverages, including fine wines from the Lodge’s cellar. Each pairing was expertly chosen to enhance the flavors of the dishes, making our dining experiences truly memorable. This personalized dining experience made my stay feel extra special and luxurious.
The Sunken Fire Pit
A favorite spot at the Lodge is the sunken fire pit, which comfortably seats up to 14 adults and offers spectacular mountain views. After a busy day of exploring the wonders of Whistler, it was the perfect place to gather with friends for après-ski cocktails. Cozy lap blankets were provided, ensuring we stayed warm as the chill of the evening set in.
Relaxation Spaces
Among the lodge’s most charming features is the day bed, located between the steam room and sauna. This tranquil spot offers serene views of the upper gardens, pools, and mountainside. It quickly became one of my favorite places to unwind, allowing me to bask in the peaceful atmosphere of the property.
Just above the spa, the reading nook offers a secluded retreat for those seeking a quiet moment away from the group. Guests can relax in a rocking chair while soaking in the beautiful views, making it an ideal escape for a moment of solitude.
Entertainment Options
Wedge Mountain Lodge & Spa ensures there’s never a dull moment with its dedicated games room, private movie theater, and pickleball court. Whether you prefer a competitive game with friends or a cozy movie night, the options for entertainment are plentiful.
Spa & Fitness
At the southern end of the lodge lies a hidden oasis—a 3,000-square-foot Nordic-inspired spa extending into the serene upper gardens. Designed to rejuvenate both body and mind, the spa provides a tranquil escape that truly enhances your stay.
The pool area, boasting stunning mountain views, is bathed in sunlight even during the winter, making it a year-round favorite. Heated to a comfortable 31°C/88°F, the 30-foot pool is perfect for morning laps or a relaxing afternoon soak. A six-foot tanning shelf offers a lovely spot for lounging or wading, and towels, robes, slides, and sun loungers are readily available to ensure complete relaxation.
The sauna provides a unique experience, offering breathtaking mountainside views and natural light while you unwind. Crafted with custom cedar benches, the sauna exudes the inviting aroma of warm wood, enhanced by the invigorating scent that fills the air when water is poured over the rocks.
Thermal Spa Journey
The thermal spa journey begins with a session in the dry sauna, where the heat therapy works its magic. Next, guests can indulge in the steam room, enveloped in soothing eucalyptus vapors. The dark wood-effect tiles and starry ceiling create a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Following the steam, taking a plunge in the cold plunge pool tightens the pores, boosts circulation, and eases muscle tension. Finally, guests are invited to relax for 15 minutes on the day bed or sun lounger, savoring the rejuvenating effects of their thermal journey.
Gym & Yoga
While I didn’t take full advantage of the fully equipped gym during my stay, it offers all the essentials for maintaining a fitness routine. Guests can choose to follow workout videos or request assistance from a fitness professional.
Yoga classes are held in the serene spa area, adjacent to the living plant wall. Though I never woke up early enough to join a session, all equipment is provided, so guests need only bring their comfortable workout attire.
Massage
For those looking to unwind further, rejuvenating massages can be arranged through the lodge’s concierge service. With two dedicated massage rooms available, professional therapists are on hand to deliver relaxing and personalized experiences that help guests recharge and find tranquility.
